The goal of First Baptist Church in Madisonville is to glory in God. We want to accomplish this in all that we do. But we also want others to glorify God
along with us, and so is the driving force behind our mission efforts. Our missional emphasis follows the description that appears in Acts
1:8—Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the Ends of the Earth.
Madisonville (Jerusalem):
Currently we support and have volunteers that work alongside the Sonshine Center, House of Hope, GED courses, and work with a Hispanic mission
church in our area. We are currently praying to create more Gospel-Centered initiatives in the very near future.
Texas (Judea):
We have numerous members who are trained for disaster relief through the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. Likewise, 7% of our budget is
dedicated to going to the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, which allocates 55% to the national Southern Baptist Convention, and utilizes
the majority of the 45% in house budget for evangelism and church planting. We are currently praying to engage in the Send effort that our state
convention has established in the city of Houston.
The United States (Samaria):
Likewise, we are in process of praying and preparing to join in the church planting movements the North American Mission Board’s Send City initiative
has prompted. We hope to locate and support church planters in one of the 32 identified cities. Recently, we provided support and aide to the flood
victims in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The Ends of the Earth:
Throughout the years we have had a strong missional relationship with church planting efforts in Romania, as well as the Philippines. We are currently
looking to engage a church planting work in Livingston, Guatemala in order to reach an Unengaged, Unreached People Group identified by the
International Mission Board—the Garifuna.
Upcoming Missions:
Be sure to check back for future trips and mission updates.
We currently have a full team for our first trip to Livingston, Guatemala this summer—July 9th–15th.
